Scope and Content The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Athens: Areopagus & Grotto of Eumenides".
Notes Published in the first SPHS catalogue of the image collection in JHS for 1897, possibly identified as catalogue number Ab 23. Date of the image, therefore, must date prior to 1897. Text below, cropped on both sides, the photograph reads: "[...] the gap between it and the Acropolis taken from just below the Propylaea. [...] corner to the right. Observe the steps going to the top of the Areopagus. The [...] [...]fuent on the top of the Hill but deliberated down in the Agora below in the Στοα Βασιλι[...].
