Scope and Content Part of a group of images from the British School at Athens excavations at Palaikastro, Crete in the 1902-1905. The original description in the SPHS negative register reads: "Palaikastro: larnax, large jar of P.K. suppl. Pl XXIIIa".
Notes According to p.98 of the 1923 publication, The unpublished objects from the Palaikastro excavations, this barrel shaped pithos was found in 1901 by Anagnostes Pegadoulakes near his cottage on high ground just within the southern limit of the Minoan town, but outside the general . It was then purchased by D.G. Hogarth and presented to the Candia [Heraklion] Museum. Other views of this jar is shown in BSA SPHS 01/2876.7290 and BSA SPHS 01/2878.7291 (see related records).
