Further information The two slabs are dated to the 10-11th c. The slab on the left depicts a leafy cross with rosettes standing on a stepped crepidome under an archivolt. The subject is a symbolic representation of the victory over death. A lion attacking an antelope is depicted on the slab on the left representing the struggle of good and evil. Both subjects are common in Byzantine sculpture of the 10th-11th c.
