Further information |
The island of Telos, close to Rhodes, was inhabited as early as the Minoan period. In Byzantine times the island belonged to the thema (prefecture) of Samos while it fell to the crusaders at the beginning of the 14th c. The ancient citadel is located close to Megalo Chorio. The temples of Zeus (Polios) and of Athena (Poliada) were located inside it. The citadel was restored in medieval times. |
