Scope and Content Part of a group of images from explorations and excavations on the island of Melos conducted by the British School at Athens from 1896 to 1899. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Phylakopi pottery: miscellaneous: 'devil jug' fragments".
Notes The dates are based on the excavation seasons at Phylakopi. Devil Jug is a term used for a beaked jug. The fragment shown on Phylakopi pl. XIV is only one sherd while the fragments in the photograph show at least two.
