| Scope and Content | Part of the collection of images, 1906-1910, of the British School at Athens excavations at Sparta, Laconia. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Sparta: general view with Taygetos". |
| Notes | Date range is based on the BSA excavations at Sparta 1906-1910. The reverse of the photograph is sized for publication with markers for cropping top and bottom with the instructions "reduced to 3 1/4" crossed off. Fig. 14 is crossed off and the number 4639 does not refer to a SPHS catalogue number. Across the top is the notation "25 Sparta + Mt. Tayegeus". It is unclear if this was actually used in a publication. This image used in the SPHS Slide Set: no author, ca. 1932. Greek Scenery. Slide number 5. |
