Scope and Content | Part of a collection of images of the BSA's 1920s excavations at Mycenae. The original description in the SPHS negative register reads: "Mycenae: Tombs 518 & 529, daggers and blades". Recorded in the register as from the 1922 season. |
Notes | Date is the year listed in the description of the image in the SPHS register. Pencilled on the drawing is the caption: "A-C Tomb 518" and "I-H Tomb 529". From left to right the items are marked as A (knife - front and side views), B (dagger - front and side views), D (knife - front and side view), H (fragment of hilt - far right top) and C (tweezers - far right bottom), F, F, C (bottom left). The illustration in Wace 1932 shows a watercolour illustration with the addition of a spearhead from the acropolis below. The drawing on opposite page shows numbers - left to right corresponding to the letters on the drawing: 50, 49, 25, 27, 28, 26 (two identical items) and 51. |
