| Scope and Content | Part of a group of images from explorations and excavations on the island of Melos conducted by the British School at Athens from 1896 to 1899. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Phylakopi pottery: imitation Mykenaean style". |
| Notes | The dates are based on the excavation seasons at Phylakopi. Also see BSA SPHS 01/2742.7025 for both these pots plus one other (BSA SPHS 01/1951.5054). The pot Phylakopi p. XXV is shown at a slightly different angle. Pottery sequences were not established at the time of the Phylakopi excavations and 'Mycenaean' was applied to both Cretan Minoan and Mainland Helladic pottery. |
