Probably dates to the original exploration of the site when William Ramsay and his wife, William Calder and Margaret Hardie (later to become Mrs Hasluck) investigated the site, the year after the donation of images to the SPHS collection in 1912 by Mr. Calder (JHS 32 (1912) liii). Calder and Hardie made a study of the Shrine of Men Askaenos, Excavations of the site under the direction of Ramsay began in 1912 and were interrupted by the war in 1914. |
