Further information The cathedral of Saint Pierre at Moissac constitutes a typical example of Romanesque architecture. The church, which was originally founded in the mid-600s but was extensively rebuilt in the 11th c., is notable for its 12th c. south-west monumental portal. The pointed-arched tympanum which is decorated by a carved apocalyptic scene with Christ in glory in the middle is considered to be a masterpiece of Romanesque sculpture.
