Notes | The photograph was donated by Mrs Strong (nee Eugenie Sellers, former BSA student), but attributed to Dörpfeld in the SPHS negative register. Note that Wilhelm Dörpfeld visited the American School of Classical Studies excavations at Eretria conducted by John Gilbert on May 5, 1891. On the other hand, the notation ERE 2 in the lower right of the photograph may indicate a commercial image, possibly by the English Photographic Company. |
