| Notes | A commercial image from the English Photographic Company. The entry has been struck out in the SPHS register, presumably deaccessioned. Unknown date, but based on numerous images from the English Photographic Company donated via Shirley Atchley catalogued from SPHS 8943 to 9256 appearing in the 1913 slide catalogue in the Journal of Hellenic Studies, it probably dates no later than 1913, but is likely to be much earlier. Printed on the bottom of the negative: "Athens No. 6(b). The Acropolis from Philopappos Hill. English Photo Co." Possibly used for the basis of a lithograph in Delbes-Broughton, 1896. Hand Book to the Antiquities of Athens (opp. title page). |
