Scope and Content | Part of the collection of images, 1924-1927, of the British School at Athens excavations at Sparta, Laconia. This particular image depicts an object from the 1926 season. The original description in the SPHS register reads:"Sparta: 1926. Laconian IV. plate with elaborate palmette design, restored." Listed as a Colour Slide in the SPHS negative register (A series), but the negative is black and white. |
Notes | Date of 1926 is listed in the SPHS register. The A series of negatives were created for colour slides produced from a colour drawings by 1913. However, the extant negatives marked in the A series are black and white. |
