| Further information | The monastic church of Hagios Georgios is located close to the Arcadian border. It was the katholikon of a Byzantine monastery –the earliest mention of the foundation in sources is in a thirteenth-century chrysobull of Andronikos II Palaiologos. The cross-vaulted church is decorated with frescoes full of ‘naïf’ folklore motifs. |
