Scope and Content | The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Cnossos: Larnax with foliage ornament". |
Notes | Date based on the first year of excavation at Knossos when Myres was present. The initials JLM is written on the negative indicating that the photograph may have been taken by Myres. It also appears as negative number 3809 in the J.L. Myres negative register held by the archives at the Institute of Archaeology, Oxford University. Register reads: "Larnax with foliage ornament". This is the larnax from Milatos excavated by Evans in 1899, mentioned and one short side illustrated in Evans'article on "The Tree and Pillar Cult"JHS 21 (1901) 174-5, fig. 50 (pers. comm. G. Rethemiotakis 2019). |
