Scope and Content | Part of a group of images from the 1894 travels of Hogarth, Yorke and others up the Euphrates as described in Hogarth's 1896 book, A Wandering Scholar in the Levant. The original description in the SPHS catalogue reads: "Asia Minor: later monuments. Roman bridge near Kiakhta". |
Notes | Date attributed to the year in which Hogarth, Yorke and others to explore the Euphrates - see A Wandering Scholar in the Levant 1896 and York in 1896 Geographical Journal 8(5): 453-472. SPHS Register lists both Hogarth and Munro as donors, although it is clear that this was taken on the 1894 expedition up the Euphrates when Hogarth was with Yorke and others, not Munro. |
