John asks Lilian not to send items for the war [between dormitories] as they wouldn’t be having it that term, and that Basil [a boy from the opposing dormitory] had spent £1 and 10 shillings on items for the “war” (and was calling it “war economy!”). John asked for Lilian to send him nuts and bolts for an unarmoured car he was making. |
