Asking if she and Herbert Pendlebury would go to the first day of a [cricket] match between Winchester College and Eton with him when they visit; telling her he had enjoyed Ascension Day [in the New Forest] and had caught a lot of butterflies, and that he had been to visit Mr Sing and see his lawn mower and clocks; and apologising for being 19th in “cuse”. John also mentions that he has a new pair of shoes and a good lunch for his [Natural History Society] expedition.
