| Further information | The Pantocrator Monastery lies on a promontory above a harbour. According to Hasluck who visited in 1911, it was thought to have been founded by two Byzantine noblemen ca. 1357 according to an inscription in the katholikon which was constructed not long after the foundation. The noblemen and the monk Jonas (assumed to be the monastic originator) are buried in the narthex of the church. Repairs and new buildings were conducted in the 16th to the 19th century.
