Scope and Content | Part of a collection of images from Hasluck of the churches of Angora which were said to be presented to the Hellenic Society in 1913 (BSA 19: 267-8). The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Angora: St. Clement. South arcade". |
Notes | Date based on Hasluck's investigations in Anatolia, European Turkey and Albania on the Bektashi (BSA 21: 84-124) - also see BSA 19 (1912/1913) p. 267-8 where it is mentioned that would be presenting images of the churches of Angora to the Hellenic Society. Very little remains of this church - only an inner section of a wall, including a marble block, with an incised Latin cross with triangular termini (horizontal arms being eroded) - see http://metujfa.arch.metu.edu.tr/index.php/jfa/article/view/2014.2.4 |
