Scope and Content | The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Athens: Corinthian capital found near Theseion". |
Notes | The date is based on R. Elsey Smith's residence in the BSA 1887-1888 (BSA Annual Report 1889-90, p. 25). Incorrectlly listed in the Negative register as a capital from near the Theseion in Athens. All the SPHS slide catalogues and slide sets indicate that it is from Epidauarus. SPHS Lectures & Slide Sets: The image appears in D.S. Robertson, ca. 1924. Ancient Architecture. Slide number 33 and R.E. Wycherley, post 1939, Greek and Roman Architecture. Slide number 23. |
