Project Rhitsona Excavation 1907-1909
Scope and Content Part of a group of images from the British School at Athens excavations at Rhitsona in Boeotia in 1907 and 1908. The original description in the SPHS negative register reads: "Terra cotta female idol from Mycalessus". Rhisona was identified by the excavator, R. Burrows, as the ancient site of Mycalessus.
Notes Dates based on the excavation of Rhitsona (ancient Mycalessus). This is a drawing, but R. M. Burrows and P. N. Ure 1907/1908. 'Excavations at Rhitsóna in Boeotia' BSA 14: 226-318, plate 12a (not 7a as listed in the 1913 slide catalogue) shows the actual object.
