Scope and Content George Finlay to C. Veselovsky, Perpetual Secretary of the Imperial Academy of Sciences of St. Petersburg. Athens, 29 January/ 10 February 1866. Expresses appreciation of his election as Corresponding Member of the historical section of the Imperial Academy of Sciences of St. Petersburg and praises the Academy's work for Byzantine history (copy with a French translation).
Notes Letters that reference two dates 12 days apart, eg. 24 April/6 May 1828, are referring to both the Julian and Gregorian calendars. Greece was one of the last European countries to adopt the Gregorian calendar. At this time, the Julian calendar was 12 days behind the Gregorian.
