Scope and Content | Part of a group of images from the BSA Paphos-Kouklia (Cyprus) Excavation 1887-1888. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Cyprus: Monoliths by the sea. Old Paphos. Devia Cypria". |
Notes | Date is based on the excavation. Although the donor of the image to the SPHS was listed as E.A. Gardner, the photograph is attributed to R. Elsey Smith and is photographed from Devia Cypria by D. G. Hogarth. The caption below the photograph on the negative reads "Monoliths near Kuklia; Oxford University Press". Other Collections: The image is duplicated in slide format in the Ashmolean Lantern Slide Teaching Collection, Oxford University, catalogue number XM13 as "Cyprus: Paphos, perforated stones". |
