Scope and Content | Part of the collection of images of the British School at Athens excavations at Kamares Cave, Crete in 1913. The original description in the SPHS negative register reads: "Kamares vases BSA excavations 1913". The drawing was possibly done by R.M. Dawkins or J.P. Droop. Listed as a Colour Slide in the SPHS negative register (A series), but the negative is black and white. |
Notes | Date based on the excavation date of the Kamares Cave and the publication of the image. The A series of negatives were created for colour slides produced from a colour drawings, but the extant negatives marked in the A series are black and white. The image is duplicated in slide format in the Ashmolean Lantern Slide Teaching Collection, Oxford University, catalogue number XJ142 as "M.M. polychrome: daisy-vase, coloured slide". The Oxford colour slides were said to have been made using the Sanger Shepherd Process. |
