Scope and Content | Part of a collection of images from the BSA excavations at Geraki near Sparta in 1905. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Geraki Relief (Sparta Mus. Cat. fig. 9)". |
Notes | Catalogued with the Geraki excavation report, although the reliefs were not recovered as part of the excavation. They were preserved in the house of M. G. Papanikolaou, the Demarch of Geraki. Some were published previously (by B. Schröder in the 1904 Athenische Mittteilungen and by Tod and Wace in the 1906 Catalogue of the Sparta Museum). Included in 1905 lantern slide catalogue - JHS 25. The reference to Sparta Museum catalogue number 32 in the 1905 and 1913 catalogues reference the Eros torso (1st century AD) and is probably an error. |
