Scope and Content Memorial Service held for John Pendlebury at Kaminia (outside of the Chania Gate in Herakleion) where Pendlebury was wounded by enemy forces during the Battle of Crete on 20 May 1941. Hilda Pendlebury is to the left of the wooden cross and wears a black mourning band on her arm. Richard Hutchinson (then Knossos Curator) stands behind her to the left.
