| Further information | The basilica of Santa Maria e San Donato is located in Murano, Italy, and dates in its present state to the 13th century. The original building was founded in the 7th century and has been extensively restored several times thoughout its history. The church is noted for the simplicity of its exterior and the complexity of its richly decorated interior (the marble-and-mosaic floor was laid in 1140). |
