Further information | A heavy dome supported by eight arches dominates the architecture in the late-eleventh/early-twelfth cruciform in plan church of S. Fosca on the small island of Torcello, close to Venice. Significant influences by the Byzantine architecture can be traced in the monument. Noteworthy is the light colonnade which enlivens the façade. The church is connected by narthex to the cathedral of S. Maria Assunta. |
