Scope and Content | The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Tiryns: Great Portal on E. east. (W.L. Enlargement No.17)". |
Notes | Unknown date, but based on numerous images donated by Walter Leaf that were catalogued SPHS 1667 to 1700 that appeared in the 1897 slide catalogue in the Journal of Hellenic Studies, it probably dates no later than 1897. Note many of these appear in his list of enlargements that was published in 1902. Note that BSA SPHS 01/0368.1680, an image of the nearby Tomb of Clytemnestra at Mycenae may have been taken in 1891. Other Collections: The image is duplicated in slide format in the Ashmolean Lantern Slide Teaching Collection, Oxford University, catalogue number XK56 as "Tiryns: East gateway, from within". |
