Scope and Content | Part of a group of images from the BSA Paphos-Kouklia (Cyprus) Excavation 1887-1888. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Cyprus: Limassol. The Eros of Paphos. (profile)". |
Notes | Date of the image is prior to 1890 as photographs by Dyer and Macmillan were submitted to the Hellenic Society's collections and catalogued, see JHS 11 (1890) p. xxxviii.. The donors were were thought to be in Cyprus with E.A. Gardner (see JHS 9: 170) in 1888 and Malcolm Macmillan died in 1889. Date is confirmed by the publication of the image in the 1888 Journal of Hellenic Studies (vol. 9). Photographs by Dyer and Macmillan were submitted to the Hellenic Society's collections and catalogued, see JHS 11 (1890) p. xxxviii. P3 is written on the negative. |
