Project | Melos Campaign 1896-1899 |
Scope and Content | Part of a group of images from explorations and excavations on the island of Melos conducted by the British School at Athens from 1896 to 1899. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Melos: Phylakopi, S.W. angle looking east to later tower". |
Notes | Date is based on description of the excavation of this wall at Phylakopi in 1897 in the 1904 site report. Image probably taken by J.L. Myres as it matches the image in his collection held by the Institute of Archaeology at Oxford University, also with the negative number 2227, so it is possible that the image was taken by him. |
