Notes | A commercial image from the English Photographic Company. Unknown date, but must date prior to 1902 when the lion monument was re-assembled. Note that this is an enlargement of the lion's head taken from a commercial print from the English Photographic Company. See related record BSA SPHS 01/4366.8985 for the whole photograph. Both this image and the related record match the description in the inventory of sites represented in the image collection printed in the 1902 Journal of Hellenic Society (p.. lxviii). The inventory, without catalogue numbers, was most likely created when the collection was reorganised, switching from alphanumeric catalogue numbers to sequential numbers. |
