Scope and Content | The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Salamis: view from the mouth of". |
Notes | Latest date is based on probable inclusion in the 1897 slide catalogue. The photograph been annotated prior to the production of the negative. The main caption reads: "Salamis: View looking W down the bay, from the mainland W of Peiraeus. The battle was fought over all the water visible." The handwriting may be that of John L. Myres (pers. comm. HEIR Project, Oxford University). Other Collections: The image is duplicated in slide format in the Ashmolean Lantern Slide Teaching Collection, Oxford University, catalogue number XB241 as "Salamis: straits". |
