Scope and Content | The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Cnossos: Draughtboard (B.S.A. VII fig. 25)". |
Notes | Date based on the publication of the image as fig. 25 in Arthur J. Evans, 1900/1901. "The Palace of Knossos" BSA 7:1-120. The image was used for the 1936 Exhibition of Minoan Civilization and the first 50 years work of the BSA at Burlington House in London. It also appears as negative number 3805 in the J.L. Myres negative register held by the archives at the Institute of Archaeology, Oxford University. Register reads: "Knossos. draughtboard. BSA VII fig. 25)". Other Collections: The image is duplicated in slide format in the Ashmolean Lantern Slide Teaching Collection, Oxford University, catalogue number XJ71 as "Knossos: ivory draught board". |
