| Scope and Content | The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Cnossos: Magazine with pithoi no 5. (B.S.A. VI fig. 4)". |
| Notes | Date based on the publication of the image in the 1900 excavation report in the BSA although this image is taken from the 1901 Monthly Review. It appears as negative number 3812 in the J.L. Myres negative register held by the archives at the Institute of Archaeology, Oxford University. Register reads: "Magazine No. 5: showing πίθος (MR 1901 p. 118 fig. 2; BSA VI fig. 4)". It is possible that the photographer may have been Myres. Note: the image is similar to fig. 4 in Arthur J. Evans, 1899/1900. "Knossos. Summary Report of the Excavations in 1900: I. The Palace" BSA 6:3-70. However, fig. 4 has been cropped on the bottom to highlight the pithoi more. |
