Notes | Published in the first SPHS catalogue of the image collection in JHS for 1897, possibly identified as catalogue number Bb 13. Date of the image, therefore, must date prior to 1897. Written below the photograph, cropped on both sides, is the text: "[...] (Greek's grain). The valley to the left leads up to Vraná and is the one [...] valley of Marathon. The hill of Kotrone separates these two valleys [...]". The image appears in the SPHS Slide Set by A.J. Toynbee (ca. 1924) Greek Life and the Greek Environment [later changed to The Geography of Greece], slide number 49. |
