Scope and Content | Part of a collection of images from Hasluck's travels to Samos, Patmos, Leros, Didyma, Miletus, Priene, Scala Nuova in 1912. The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Leros: the port from the Castle". |
Notes | Date based on Hasluck's travels to Samos, Patmos, Leros, Didyma, Miletus, Priene, Scala Nuova in 1912 - see BSA 18 (1911/1912) p. 316. The image is duplicated in slide format in the Ashmolean Lantern Slide Teaching Collection, Oxford University, catalogue number XB58 as "Aegean Isles: Leros, port from castle". The image was used for the 1936 Exhibition at Burlington House (London) to celebrate the first 50 years of the British School. The image appeared on a board that was dedicated to Wace and Dawkins trip to the Cyclades and Dodecanese in 1906-1907. |
