The monastery of Voulkano or Vourkano lies on the summit of Ithome hill, at a prehistoric/ancient location very close to the ancient temple of Dias Ithomata. The katholikon is an impressive building decorated with frescoes by Moschos brothers in 1608. The monastery was abandoned in the late post-Byzantine period. |
