Scope and Content Part of a group of images from the British School at Athens excavations at Palaikastro, Crete in the 1902-1905. The original description in the SPHS negative register reads: "Palaikastro: LM I pithos (BM No. A 737, BSA Supp I pl. xxii b)".
Notes Dates to the second season of excavation at Palaikastro and is described in the 1923 publication, The unpublished objects from the Palaikastro excavations, on page 55. British Museum Vase number A737 is Museum number GR 1907,0119.596; it is catalogued as a LM Upper part of pottery pithos; tall oval body; round shoulder and wide mouth; three round loop handles on shoulder (handles broken away); three quarters of the upper half made up from fragments; back wanting; moulded and incised patterns; between each pair of handles is a double circle of thumb-pressed ridging around convex medallion; roughly incised rosette; below, donated by the British School at Athens in 1907.
