Scope and Content The original description in the SPHS register reads: "Athens: Theatre of Dionysus. Marble throne of the high priest of Dionysus".
Notes The date is based on R. Elsey Smith's residence in the BSA 1887-1888 (BSA Annual Report 1889-90, p. 25). The image is masked to show a 3.5 x 2.5cm image, so it may be for the production of a smaller format slide. The original negative size listed in the SPHS register indicates a half plate size (number 2). This images appears in SPHS Lectures & Slide Set by S. Casson (ca. 1924) Ancient Athens, slide number 1; also in Slide Set by J. Penoyre (ca. 1926) Ancient Greek Life, slide number 16.
