Some parts are shaded with ink and lines while some are left with just the outlines of patterns: this indicates which fragments they had at the time of illustration. The original description in the catalogue reads: "Polychrome designs on vases of 'Kamáres' style (Middle Minoan: cf. 51, 52) imported from Crete to Melos about 1800 B.C.: white enhanced with other colours, on black slip." |
