An ink illustration of a lioness lying down, eating an animal of which the body and cloven back hoof can be seen. The front corner where the head of the prey animal would be is missing; the edge has been reconstructed with a dotted line. The original description in the catalogue reads: "Couchant beast devouring its prey." |
