The John Pendlebury Family Papers cover the period from 1913 to 1964 and document the life of archaeologist and WWII hero John Devitt Stringfellow Pendlebury, his wife Hilda and their family.

John and Hilda Pendlebury joined the cruise (which was hosted by Mrs Emmett, wife of the American Naval attaché at Hague) at the invitation of Charles and Isabel Seltman. The manuscript includes descriptions of Keos [Kéa], Tenos [Tínos], Mykonos [Míkonos], Delos [Dhílos], Samos [Sámos], Chios, Mitylene [Lésvos], Paros [Páros] and Melos [Mílos].

The account of a journey “Trip to Eleutherna and Preveli May 3rd – May 10th 1929” is annotated as having been published in Archaeology Magazine (Sep 1964).
