Salamis Excavation 1890
In 1890, the British School at Athens found traces of the ancient Greco-Roman city of Salamis. Attention was paid to a topographical study and the planning of the remains. At a location within the walls of the later city, massive granite columns were discovered along with column drums, and numerous marble fragments. Test trenches were laid around the Agora site, exposing other structures including a Loutron. Several other areas of the site were investigated exposing more structures including a cistern and aqueduct, and a temple.
Active from 16/01/1890 to 04/06/1890.
