Megalopolis Excavation 1890-1893
Fieldwork:
Excavations by the British School at Athens were conducted at Megalopolis over the years 1890 to 1893. Excavations were extensive and included the Thersileion, the Theatre and various structures in the Agora. There were controversies over the construction of the Theatre between William Loring who had excavated it and Wilheim Dörpfeld. The final results of the excavations were published in a supplemental volume by the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies.
Active from 18/03/1890 to 24/04/1893.
