Megalopolis Excavation 1890-1893: Autumn Season 1890
Excavation: Research excavation
Excavations began on the north bank of the river in the ancient agora of Megalopolis to completely clear the building found the previous season (Temple of Zeus Soter). Work was also undertaken to completely clear the orchestra, scena, parodi, and so much of the seats as should prove to remain in situ of the theatre. The complete excavation of the large stoa (identified as Stoa Philippeios) behind the scena should be reserved for future consideration.
Active from 03 Nov 1890 to 19 Dec 1890.
