Olympeion Excavation 1890
In 1890, the Director of the British School at Athens (E.A. Gardner) recieved permission to excavate around the Temple of Olympus in Athens. This 'small' excavation was used as a teaching opportunity for the students of the British School. Gardner was particularly interested in understanding the orientation of the foundation orientation of the successive temples.
