Mycenae Excavation 1950-1955
Fieldwork:
The excavations that took place between 1950 and 1955 allowed restoration work to be carried out in the Tomb of Clytemnestra, the Lion Gate, the Old Grave Circle. The Archaeological Society, Wace and Papademetriou carried out excavations in the Lower Town and at the New Grave circle, discovering numerous finds. The tombs were excavated and studied and Papademetriou confirmed that the Grave Circles belonged to two royal houses.
Active from 1950 to 1955.
