Mycenae Excavation 1939
The main goals of this excavation was to clear, survey and study in detail four areas: the ruins of a Greek temple (dating from the Hellenistic period) on the summit and a large Mycenaean house on the east side of the Acropolis, an area outside the Lion Gate, and the Treasury of Atreus. The results were that the temple's foundations could be dated, the architecture of the House of Columns was studied, the prehistoric cemetery outside the Lion gate could be traced, and finally more information was acquired on the contruction and date of the Treasury of Atreus.
Active in 1939.
